Behind Every Horse is an even Greater Team!
For as long as I could remember, my life journey has always been about finding THAT horse. THAT horse that will take me training level. THAT horse that will take me to my first 1*. THAT horse that will take me to first 4*. It’s always been about finding that horse and then everything else would magically fall into place. Then, the years passed by and I became slightly older and dare I say, *slightly* wiser. I recognized the importance of having a team and support structure.
The last couple of years, specifically the last seven months, have unexpectedly revolved around personal growth. I’ve made enormous mistakes, and I’ve also experienced incredible adventures and reached goals I never thought possible. This year felt like enormous waves coming towards me in every possible direction and at every possible speed. It’s been exciting and terrifying all wrapped up.
After spending the entire summer with an outstanding group of clients, ranging from high school teens to adult amateurs and every rider in between, I’ve realized the tremendous importance of having a group of supporters behind you.
This sport is exhausting, taxing, and drains every ounce of energy, every dollar, every year and every drip of sweat right out of you. It also somehow inspires you to keep going and keep trying even when you feel you are close to empty. Yes you want the PERFECT horse for you, and yes you want the best coaches who inspire you, but at the end of the day, when you get a “YOU CAN DO THIS” text, phone call, email, or however the message is delivered, *that* is what keeps you going and that is what motivates you.
Build the confidence with a team behind you
I feel very confident in the skill sets I have. Though I have an enormous amount to learn still, I feel incredibly positive about my relationship with my horse and the direction we are heading. But when you cross the finish line after cross country and you have people waiting to hug you and your horse, or you look at your phone at 11pm that night only to find 58 texts and emails and calls telling you how excited everyone is for you and your horse, that is what helps drive me. That is what builds my confidence.
Knowing there are people near and far cheering me on. It’s not just me and my horse taking on new levels, new jumps and new goals, it’s about a team. It’s about having people who believe in us. That’s what it’s all about. That’s where it begins and thrives and finishes, with a team behind you and your horse who love what you’re doing as much as you do. So thank you everyone. Truly, you are the reason why I can push through and make this life and this dream become reality.
